Moreton Equestrian Centre in Dorset has recently held the second of is annual Adult Camps with sponsorship provided by Hilton Herbs and NAF. The Moreton adult camps are open to all abilities of horse and rider including a non-jumping group who only do work on the flat and a group who do pole work up to 80/85cm.
Moreton adult camps can accommodate 36 campers who are divided into 6 groups and there are three instructors who come in to teach. Ridden sessions on the Friday morning at 9am and run throughout the day until 4.30pm. Each group gets three one-hour sessions every day.
Friday evening is normally a talk or quiz and an opportunity for all the ‘campers’ to get to know one another.
On the Saturday there is an optional cross-country session and most people are keen to do this. There are many jumps on the Moreton British Eventing course from 60cm up to Novice level. In addition there are arena cross-country sessions – so something for everyone!
On Saturday evening there is a BBQ and our famous rounders match which is always highly competitive. Then if the campers are still up for it we play party games!
Sunday morning is a judged Dressage test and a round of show-jumping or poles to end the camp. We used to run Sunday as a competition but we felt this put too much pressure on the campers and they just preferred the non-competitive Sunday.
Then there is the prize giving with the goodie bags!
