Here at Hilton Herbs we recently had a visit from our DPD Account Manager who checked through the preparations we have made in advance of a no-deal BREXIT.  She said we were all up to date with our registered EORI number and the commodity codes we have issued for each and every one of our products.  She said we were one of the best-prepared of her small business customers!

No-one really knows what will happen on October 31st – other than the usual pumpkin 'heads' and kids ‘trick or treating’ – and that’s actually not a bad analogy for what’s been going in government for the last two and a half years!

Anyway we’re doing our best to make sure that our customers continue to receive the service they’re entitled to and that we continue to supply them with herbal supplements for their horses and pets – as we’ve been doing for 30 years!

The UK’s impending departure from the European Union will bring change for businesses of every size and sector.

”While some companies are already planning for the challenges and opportunities ahead, Chambers of Commerce believe that all firms – not just those directly and immediately affected – should be undertaking a Brexit 'health check', and a broader test of existing business plans.

Time spent thinking through the changes that Brexit may bring to your firm could yield real dividends in future. There are steps that businesses of all sizes can take now to start planning ahead.”

Why does my business need an EORI number?

“There has been a lot of talk recently from government departments and business and trade organisations, such as ourselves at the British Chambers of Commerce, about the importance of traders registering for an EORI number………..So far official numbers from HMRC suggest a disappointingly low uptake in the proportion of UK firms registering for an EORI number.”
