Black Salt licks are produced by combining the now familiar Pink Himalayan Rock Salt with herbs and spices.

Black Salt (Kala namak or Sanchal) is a natural Ayurvedic product ranging from amber to a dark purple, brownish-black colour, hence the name. Black Salt is produced by combining the now familiar Pink Himalayan Rock Salt with herbs and spices. The popular Rock Salt is heated to more than 1400 degrees Farenheit, and then mixed with the seed of the Black Myrobalan tree (harad) which lends a sulphurous flavour to the salt and darkens its colour.

My horses have free access to a pink salt lick, a mineral lick and a black salt lick in their field. The black salt has has considerably more use than the other two. Not sure which horse (4 in the herd) as I have an SI horse an EMS pony, a poor doer pony and a veteran horse in there. Geat product as they really seem to like it. They all look well.
