Activated Charcoal

Recommended for use to support and maintain horses:

• Prone to excessive gas, bloating, flatulence, or loose stools.
• When changing diet (hard feed, hay or haylage)
• When grazing conditions change (lush grass, drought followed by heavy rain, seasonal pasture changes or changing from grass to hay/haylage)
• At times of stress (competition, travelling, moving yards)

Activated Charcoal is a highly activated granular carbon made from specific grades of Coconut shells. The shells are heated to a very high temperature producing a structure with a large surface area, offering maximum adsorption (this is the process of adhesion of molecules of liquid or gases onto the surface of a solid particle)

The Charcoal is the highest grade and can be used for periodic digestive support for ponies and horses of all ages. Charcoal has traditionally been used to help bind toxins and excess acidity present in the digestive system.

Activated Charcoal is not digested in the horse’s digestive system which means that any toxins binding to the charcoal are removed from the body in the horse’s droppings.

Please note: Activated Charcoal could reduce the absorption of prescription drugs such as Phenylbutazone, Pergolide/ Prascend etc. Please consult your Vet if your horse is on medication.
