Horses
Your horse’s respiratory system may be affected by any number of factors, including viral or bacterial infections, lowered immunity, poor air quality or seasonal airborne allergens such as pollen. Any of these factors can lead to respiratory irritation, behavioural problems, a reduction in respiratory health, lung function or ability to perform.
Let us support your horse with a range of soothing pure herbal supplements and fast acting liquid solutions to maintain healthy lungs, airways, sinuses and resistance to environmental allergens.
Our herbal supplements are formulated to help support healthy, efficient, airways and resistance to irritants and infections all-year round. We particularly recommend Freeway or Freeway Gold for horses if they are stabled more in the winter or have restricted turnout both of which can contribute towards respiratory problems.
If a horse is coughing or respiratory illness is suspected, then immediate equine veterinary attention should be sought.

How much do I have give?

The quantity of herbs added to your horse or pony's feed can be slightly increased or decreased, depending on the circumstances. Very often a lower maintenance dose can be sufficient for a horse or pony that is going to be kept on the herbs long-term. Remember, like humans, all horses and ponies are individuals.
1. Its not unusual for your horse or pony to have a 'snotty nose' after a week or so being on Freeway, this is just an indication that the herbs are doing their job.
2. Eyebright (Euphrasia officinalis) herb makes a wonderful lotion for bathing sore, tired, irritated eyes, for both horses or humans.
To make an eyewash put about 10g of Eyebright dried herb in a small saucepan with a lid, add 200ml of cold water, bring slowly to the boil, and simmer gently for 3 to 4 minutes. Keeping the lid on the saucepan, remove from the heat and leave to cool and once cooled the liquid can be strained. Soak cotton pads in the eyebright eyewash and bathe eyes. Don't waste the strained herb, this can be added to your horse's feed. Any unused eyewash can be put into a closed jam-jar and kept for a couple of days in the fridge.
